hello, i’m sunday (they/them)
since i was a kid, i knew i wanted to work in a career that helped people. initially that looked like working as a school counselor for several years. during that time i loved the relationships i developed with students, and sometimes their families. however, the education system is violent and i had to make the decision to support youth and adults in another way……introducing shape change counseling.
my goal is to create a non-judgemental and empathetic therapeutic space for my clients, collaboratively shaping what each person’s healing looks like. my focus is centered on the relationship between me and clients vs emphasis on a particular therapy modality.
my practice is shaped by my identity as a Black, queer, non-binary, non-monomogous, trans parent/caregiver. shape change is rooted in Black Liberation, abolition, social justice, and community care; centered around the work of octavia e. butler.
i am particularly jazzed to connect and work with the LGBTQ+ Community, Black & Indigenous POC, parents/caregivers, young adults, youth (ages 12 & older), folks impacted by foster care, and all the weirdos alike on your healing journey.
outside of work you’ll probably find me on a long walk, spending time with my family and loved ones, loving on my plants, being out in nature, and generally just living life being sexy and mentally ill.
